What if you could read the Old Testament the same way the apostle Paul did?

The LXX Scrolls explores that question through comparative biblical scholarship, examining how the ancient Greek Septuagint differs from— and complements —the Hebrew text underlying most English Bibles. When the New Testament writers quoted Scripture, they almost always quoted the Septuagint. Understanding those differences unlocks new dimensions of biblical meaning.

Kevin B Potter founded The LXX Scrolls to bring this rich textual tradition out of academic obscurity and into the hands of everyday Christians. Through weekly articles, detailed commentary, and forthcoming book series, Potter makes complex scholarship accessible without sacrificing depth, serving pastors, students, and serious readers who want to encounter Scripture more fully.

Biography

Kevin B. Potter came to faith later in life after many years of agnosticism that followed his Mormon childhood. His unique journey brings a fresh perspective to biblical scholarship.

As an independent researcher and author, he specializes in the Septuagint and early textual transmission of Scripture. His mission is to make ancient biblical scholarship accessible to believers and curious seekers alike.

His distinctive "both/and" approach treats different textual traditions as complementary witnesses to God's word rather than competing authorities. Through his Substack publication, The LXX Scrolls, and his books, Kevin bridges the gap between academic rigor and approachable, devotional study for pastors, scholars, lay readers, and anyone interested in how we got our Bible.

When not exploring biblical texts and the ancient Near East, he writes award-winning fantasy novels under the name Kevin Potter.

Kevin attends Life.Church and lives in Oklahoma with his daughter, a needy dog, and two very opinionated cats.
